This feature is used to customize the asset creating form (add new asset page) for managing your assets. It also allows you to create and manage the asset types and sub-types.
Customize the Asset Creation Form
To create the asset type or sub type:
1. Click
from the main menu bar.
2. On the View Settings page, click Manage Your Asset
.
3. Manage Your Asset page opens, as shown in the Figure 5-1-1.

4. Click Asset Manager Configuration
to open View Asset Type or Sub Type page.
This page will show you the existing asset type(s), if any, as shown in the Figure 5-1-2.
In addition to that, you can view the existing asset sub type as well as create
new asset type and sub type.
Tip: You can also click on
from the toolbar to access the View Asset
Type or Sub Type page directly.
Note: To view the existing Asset
Sub Type, click
under Asset Type in the View Asset Type or
Sub Type page.
5. Under Creation of Asset Type, enter information in the following fields for creating Asset Type, as shown in the Figure 5-1-2:

6. Click
under Creation of Asset Type to save the
information.
Example: At times, you may need to
create Asset Type for managing your assets and for adding fields
in the Add New Asset
page. To do so, enter a name for the Asset Type such as Computer,
and a brief description about it, as shown in the Figure 5-1-2. Click
under Creation of Asset Type to create the
Asset Type.
7. Similarly, to create an Asset Sub Type, enter information in the following fields under Creation of Asset Sub Type, as shown in the Figure 5-1-2:

Note: For creating an Asset Sub Type, you must have an Asset Type.
8. Click
to save the information.
Example: At times, you may need to
create Asset Sub Type to further segregate the Asset Type. To do so, select an
Asset Type, such as Computer, under which the Asset Sub Type will fall. Enter a
name for the Asset Sub Type, such as Mouse, and a brief description about it,
as shown in the Figure
5-1-2. Click
under Creation of Asset Sub Type to save the
information.

To delete the asset type:
1. Open the View Asset Type or Sub Type page.
2. Check against the Asset Type to be deleted, as shown in the Figure 5-2-1.

3. Click
.
A confirmation box pops-up. Click
to confirm deletion.
Note: You cannot delete the Asset Sub Type separately. Asset Sub Type will be deleted with the Asset Type.
This section will help you to customize the Add New Asset page by adding attributes under the Asset Type or Asset Sub Type. You can also manage these attributes from the Configure Asset Type page.
To add a new attribute:
1. Open View Asset Type or Sub Type page.
2. Click the Asset Type or Sub Type under which you want to add an attribute.
Note: Clicking Asset Type will help you to add an attribute under Asset Type and clicking Asset Sub Type will help you to add an attribute under the Asset Sub Type in the Add New Asset page.
3. Configure Asset Type page opens, as shown in the Figure 5-3-1. This page will show you the attribute label, its field type, and whether that attribute is the required field or is searchable, or both.
Note: You can view the Trash
in Configure Asset Type page only, if there
is a deleted attribute.
To
disallow editing of the selected attribute(s) in the Configure Asset Type page,
select Display Only from the
drop-down menu or select Allow Editing to
allow doing changes. To hide attribute(s) in the Add New Asset page, select Display Off from the
drop-down menu.

4. Click
to open Add Attribute page. Enter information
in the following required fields, as shown in the Figure 5-3-2:

5. You can also add information in the following optional fields, as shown in the Figure 5-3-2:

Check the box if you want this field to be mandatory. |

Check the box if you want to allow search on this field. |

If you select the mandatory field then, enter a message that will be displayed, if a user leaves the Required field as blank. |

Note: Depending on the attribute type, the Text Properties window will be displayed in the Add Attribute page, which can be used for additional information, as shown in the Figure 5-3-3.

6. Click
to add new attributes.
Tip: Click
to close the page after adding an attribute.
Example: At times, you may need to
add a new attribute. To do so, enter a label for the attribute and select the
Attribute Type, as shown in the Figure 5-3-2. You can also select the respective
boxes to allow search on this attribute field or to make this field mandatory.
If you select the mandatory field, enter an alert message for the user if
he/she leaves the mandatory field blank, as shown in the Figure 5-3-3.
Depending on the Attribute Type, you can also specify properties for the
Attribute Type. Click
.
To modify an attribute:
1. Open the Configure Asset Type page.
2. Click the Caption to be modified.
3. Update the information and click
to save the changes.
Note: You cannot modify the Attribute Type.
To delete an attribute:
1. Open the Configure Asset Type page.
Note: You can view the Trash
in Configure Asset Type page only, if there
is a deleted attribute.
2. In the Configure Asset Type page, check against the caption to delete the attribute, as shown in the Figure 5-4-1.

3. Click

A delete confirmation box pops-up. Click
to confirm deletion.
To recover an attribute:
1. Open the Configure Asset Type page.
2. Click Trash
to open the Deleted Items View page.
3. Check the box against the caption to recover the attribute, as shown in the Figure 5-5-1.

4. Select Display Only from the
drop-down menu to recover the attribute.
Note: To disallow editing of the
selected attribute(s) in the Configure Asset Type page, select Display Only
from the
drop-down menu, or select Allow Editing to
make the changes. To hide attribute(s) in the Add New Asset page, select Display Off from the
drop-down menu.
Tip: You can delete an attribute
permanently by clicking
on the Deleted Items View page. A
confirmation box pops-up. Click
.
To
view the active attributes, click
.
